Due great consternation in the city of Toledo, the death this Saturday, at the age of 87, of Paulino Lorenzo, a professional soldier who he dedicated his whole life to football in the city of Toledo. He managed the popular Santa Bárbara and coached CD Toledo for several historic stages, with a total of 241 games on the bench.
His greatest success as a coach came in the 1983-84 season, when won the Castilla Cup for CD Toledo in the Amateur category after the dispute of a grand final at “Las Margaritas” in Getafe against Carabanchel (2-1 in favor of the greens).

The Toledo City Council was represented in the tribute which was transferred to him in 2018 by the adviser Juan Jose Perez del Pino, who was manager of Toledo in one of Paulino Lorenzo’s stages as coach. For its part, CD Toledo was “close” to the person honored with the figure of its then president, Juan Juarez. Lorenzo was deeply moved that day by the tribute to the “Salto del Caballo”, his usual home, where he was honored with a hall of honor before the game against Calvo Sotelo.

In 2021, the plenary session of the Toledo City Council approved give the name of Paulino Lorenzo at football facilities annexed to the municipal domain “Salto del Caballo“. This politico-administrative resolution originated in an express request from the CD Toledo Board of Directors, which led to the unanimous approval of the Board of Directors of the Toledo Sports Council.
